WTDC-14 Conference Acclaims Achievements under Hyderabad Action Plan
Results provide solid foundation for Dubai Action Plan
ITU’s sixth quadrennial World Telecommunications Development Conference (WTDC10-14) currently under way in Dubai in the United Arab Hyderabad Action Plan (HAP) has endorsed ITU’s achievements over the past four years in implementing the Hyderabad Action Plan adopted at WTDC-10.
The more than 1,600 participating Government officials, regulators and industry leaders welcomed the ITU report entitled ‘Tracking Four Years of Achievements’ presented to the conference on 1 April by ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) Director Brahima Sanou.
Under the four-year Hyderabad Action Plan, the BDT was assigned the task of implementing five main programmes to promote affordable access to telecommunications and ICTs aimed at fostering sustainable development worldwide, with a particular focus on developing countries including least developed countries, small island developing States, and landlocked countries.
