Media Advisory: ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 20 October-7 November: media accreditation now open
Host country Korea plans extravaganza of ICT side-events and showcases to complement main conference programme
Geneva, 21 July 2014 —Media accreditation for ITU’s 19th ITU Plenipotentiary Conference opens today, as ITU and the Republic of Korea together ramp up preparations for an event the Host Country is billing as ‘the ICT Olympics’.
The conference, known as PP-14, is the world’s largest gathering of the ICT policy-making community. It is expected to attract around 3,000 participants, including Heads of State and an estimated 130 VIPs from over 160 countries.
Delegates will tackle a number of pressing issues, from strategies to promote digital inclusion and address the growing broadband divide, to ways to further build international consensus on Internet-related public policy issues. The conference will also look at possible reforms to the ITU Convention and Constitution, initiatives to enhance membership and multi-stakeholder participation, and measures to ensure progress on growth, sustainability and innovation across the ICT ecosystem.
