Communiqué: ITU World Radiocommunication Seminar focuses on regulatory aspects of the use of the radio-frequency spectrum and satellite orbits
Event helps ITU members to prepare upcoming World Radiocommunication Conference 2015
Geneva, 8 December 2014 – The World Radiocommunication Seminar 2014 opened today in Geneva and will be meeting 8-12 December 2014. The seminar is focused on the regulatory aspects of the use of the radio-frequency spectrum and satellite orbits, in particular the application of the provisions of the ITU Radio Regulations.
More than 400 participants coming from more than 90 countries were registered at this event.
ITU Secretary-General Hamadoun I. Touré said, “World Radiocommunication Seminars, held biennially, provide to ITU members worldwide, a hands-on experience with ITU notification procedures and an excellent opportunity to become familiar with the procedures that regulate and govern the use of the radio-frequency spectrum and satellite orbits.”
The first two days of the seminar are dedicated to discussing international frequency management and radiocommunication standardization of the terrestrial and space services. The last three days will enable participants to get hands-on experience with ITU notification procedures as well as with the software and electronic publications made available by the ITU Radiocommunication Bureau to ITU membership.
